Dec. 11, 2012 | Audience: Families, Community, Staff | Contact: Communications | (206) 252-0200

Dear Seattle Public Schools community,

We are writing to let you know that a public tribute for Dr. Maria Goodloe-Johnson will be held at 6:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 14 at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 7396 Rivers Ave. N. in Charleston, South Carolina. Private services for the family will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15.

Dr. Goodloe-Johnson, who served as Seattle’s Superintendent from 2007-2010, passed away on Dec. 5 after a long battle with cancer. Our deepest sympathies go to her husband, Bruce, their daughter, Maya, and her step-daughter, Brittany.

In lieu of flowers, Dr. Goodloe-Johnson’s family requests that donations be made to:

First Federal Bank of South Carolina

c/o Dr. Maria Goodloe-Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund

For Maya Jewell Johnson

or

Twenty Pearls Foundation of Charleston, Inc. (a 501C3 organization)

Reference:  Dr. Maria Goodloe-Johnson Scholarship

PO Box 30115, Charleston, SC 29417

Tax ID# 32-0133373

If you have a memory you would like to share with Maria’s family, we are compiling a book of photos and memories for the family. Please email your story or photo to publicaffairs@seattleschools.org by Friday, Dec. 28 and we will include it in the book.

Sincerely,

The Office of Public Affairs
